If you are a Canadian resident, but don’t currently live in Canada, you can open an account using this online application tool.
If you’re not a Canadian resident, you can apply for an account using our non-resident application. Simply tell us that you are not a Canadian resident by answering NO when asked within the tool.

This application is designed for you to open an account online. If for some reason we need more information from you, we’ll ask you to stop into a branch for a quick visit to activate your account.
Our online application can be completed in about 10 minutes or less. Once your account is open, you can set it up in RBC Online Banking® and choose a Client Card PIN. Then you’ll be ready to start using your account right away.
At this time, you can only open an account for yourself through this online application tool. You can add a co-owner to your account after opening it online, as long as that person is already an RBC Online Banking client.
Alternatively, please visit an RBC branch or give us a call at if you would like to open a joint account.
We use your Social Insurance Number for tax-related purposes if you hold a product generating interest or income.
